Wie ik ben

Mijn naam is Ramona, ik ben 48 jaar en woon in Haarlem. Sinds januari 2022 leef ik met uitgezaaide borstkanker. In de afgelopen jaren heb ik meer dan honderd chemobehandelingen gehad, naast operaties, bestralingen en verschillende medicijnen. Fysiek ben ik nog redelijk fit, mentaal is het iedere dag een uitdaging om rechtop te blijven staan.

Waarom ik deze actie start

Mijn ziekte bevindt zich nu in een vergevorderd stadium, waarbij nog één specifieke chemo als optie overblijft om mijn leven te verlengen: Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan). Het is wetenschappelijk bewezen dat het bij mijn type borstkanker, HER2-low, de overleving kan verlengen en de kwaliteit van leven kan verbeteren. Dit medicijn is in Nederland wel goedgekeurd, maar wordt voor mijn vorm van borstkanker niet vergoed. De fabrikant en het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (VWS) zijn het niet eens geworden over de prijs, en daardoor sta ik buitenspel. In 27 andere Europese landen wordt het middel wel vergoed.

Wat ik kan doen

Ik kan vanaf 7 mei 2026 in het oncologisch ziekenhuis ZAS in Antwerpen starten met de behandelingen. Daar is Enhertu voor mij wel beschikbaar en kan ik de noodzakelijke zorg ontvangen die in Nederland niet vergoed wordt. De behandelingen moet ik volledig zelf betalen: het medicijn (ca. € 8.000 per 3 weken), de toediening, het verblijf en de reiskosten. Dat zijn bedragen die ik onmogelijk uit eigen zak kan opbrengen.

Waar gaat het geld naartoe​

Met deze crowdfunding hoop ik hulp te krijgen bij de kosten die niet gedekt worden. Het geld dat wordt ingezameld is bedoeld voor:

Who I am

My name is Ramona, I'm 48 years old and I live in Haarlem. Since January 2022, I have been living with metastatic breast cancer. Over the past few years, I have undergone more than one hundred chemotherapy treatments, in addition to surgeries, radiation therapy and various medications. Physically, I'm still reasonably fit; mentally, it's a daily challenge to keep standing tall.

Why I'm starting this campaign

My illness has now reached an advanced stage, and there is one specific chemotherapy left as an option to extend my life: Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan). It has been scientifically proven that for my type of breast cancer, HER2-low, this drug can prolong survival and improve quality of life. The medication is approved in the Netherlands, but it is not reimbursed for my form of breast cancer. The manufacturer and the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) have failed to reach an agreement on the price, and as a result, I am left on the sidelines. In 27 other European countries, this treatment is reimbursed.

What I can do

Starting on 7 May 2026, I can begin treatment at the ZAS oncology hospital in Antwerp. There, Enhertu is available to me and I can receive the necessary care that is not reimbursed in the Netherlands. However, I will have to pay for the treatments entirely out of my own pocket: the medication itself (approximately €8,000 every 3 weeks), the administration of the drug, accommodation, and travel costs. These are amounts that I simply cannot afford on my own.
