Help Ramy and his family escape Gaza

I'm hoping you can help me help my dear friend, Ramy Z Tarazi, along with his 24-year-old wife Marina and their 15-month-old son Zohair. They urgently need to escape Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

Before the devastating conflict in Gaza, Ramy was a director at the Arab Orthodox Cultural and Social Centre. Since the 27th Oct 2023 , he has tirelessly supported both the Christian and Muslim communities in Gaza, providing whatever relief he could with essential medical supplies, earning him the gratitude of many. Sadly, the war has shattered Ramy's dreams. His home and workplace lie in ruins, and he now finds himself with nothing at all. He currently ‘lives’ at the Saint Porphyrios Orthodox Church in the war-torn town of Gaza City. Tragically, many of his loved ones have perished in the bombings.

Ramy's sole focus now is on securing the safety of his young family. He said to me via messenger this morning "I just need to save my son; we do not have enough milk or food for him." Their only hope lies in leaving Gaza, to seek refuge in a safer place.

However, to make the journey is very expensive The cost of crossing the Rafah border amounts to $5,000 USD per person. For Rami's family of three, this means a total of $15,000 USD. Although Ramy once dreamed of building a prosperous future for his family and community in Gaza, this dreadful war has forced him to reconsider. His priority now is simply to ensure the safety of his family, and he believes leaving Gaza is the only viable option.

Like me I’m sure many of you will have been appalled by what you are seeing and reading about Gaza but not know how to help. This fundraiser is an opportunity to directly support a young family . Please help me support Ramy escape Gaza so he can start to build a safer and better life for his family. His plans post escape are hazy – but he does have an Australia visa and may look to emigrate there – but for the moment all he can focus on is getting out and saving his son.
