For those of you who don’t know my sweet pup, this is Ralphie! He means so much to our family. Anyone that has met this boy has fallen in love with his doinky-ness. He is currently dealing with a painful infection in his mouth and is in need of urgent dental care.
A little bit of his back story: Ralphie came from a very abusive family, and a neighbor saved him. That neighbor worked two jobs, so Ralphie spent most of his days living in a bathroom, surviving on restaurant food and cat food. One day, the neighbor showed up on our doorstep asking if I could keep him because he worked too much. My heart sank when I saw Ralphie’s condition. He was infested with fleas (they were literally crawling on his eyeballs), his hair was completely matted, each nail was so long and curvy, he had a head tilt and one eye was foggy, and when I tried talking to him, he didn’t react, so I believed he was deaf. We gave him a bath, cut his nails, shaved him, and took him to multiple vets for shots, bloodwork, and medicine for his skin. None of the medicines were working for his skin, but that’s another story.
He’s a lot better now but still needs more care. Recently, we took him to an urgent vet due to a “hotspot” on his face that appeared within 24 hours. When they shaved around the area, we found out it was actually an abscess. He has an infection in his mouth, and it’s affecting the whole left side of his face—his left eye is even caving inward. The vet referred us to a dental specialist, and the costs are much higher than we expected, including dental cleaning, X-rays, CT scan, and sedation, not to mention medications or extractions.
This dental care can help get rid of the infection Ralphie has on his face and provide him the relief he needs to live a happy life. We’re asking for some help towards this as this was unexpected. Any support would mean the world to us and to Ralphie. Thank you for caring about his journey and for being part of his recovery.
