We never thought we’d be writing something like this.
Our boy Ralph is 5.5 years old. Up until recently, he was completely normal—happy, eating well, always ready to play fetch or go for a walk. On January 14th we noticed his right eye starting to turn red, which the vet told us was most likely blood in front of the iris (Hyphema) caused by a trauma to the eye and that it should resolve with time. By January 15th he had blood pooling in both of his eyes and was starting to lose his vision. We rushed him to the vet and further testing showed that all of his lymph nodes are enlarged, and there is a strong concern for cancer.
We received results on Jan 17th, and he has tested positive for Lymphoma. We are currently waiting for chemo treatment, but based on what they’re seeing, we’ve been told that without treatment, he may only have 4–6 weeks to live.
Despite that, he is still acting like himself. He still wags his tail. He still wants to be near us. He doesn’t know he’s sick which is the hardest part.
If you know The Snow Retrievers, then you already know him.
He’s the logo of the company—the dog on the trucks, the website, and the flyers. He’s not just a brand symbol; he’s our family dog and the heart behind everything we built.
His favourite season is summer. His favourite things in the world are playing fetch and swimming in the river. Our hope is to give him more time, and if possible, help him make it to the summer so he can do the things he loves most.
We’ve been presented with treatment options such as chemotherapy that focus on quality of life, not suffering. Dogs often tolerate these treatments far better than people do. The goal isn’t to put him through something painful—it’s to give him good, comfortable time.
The reality is that the cost of treatment is more than we can manage on our own, which is why we’re asking for help.
We want to be completely transparent:
Every dollar raised will go directly toward his veterinary care and treatment.
We will post invoices and cost breakdowns through the link below:
If his treatment is unsuccessful, any remaining funds will be donated to animal rescues.
If you’re able to help in any way—donating, sharing, or even just sending good thoughts—we truly appreciate it.
He has given us nothing but love since the day we brought him home. We’re just trying to give that love back by fighting for one more summer.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
