UPDATE: so i have started removing the mold areas and this is going to be a big job
So I've tried my best to not go this route, but I've run into a lot of walls and 'No' from insurance, so I'm going to try asking y'all for some help.
I'm a single male truck driver that moved to Oklahoma with my aunt after my uncle passed (3 years ago) because she wanted to be closer to her daughter's family (my cousin). So, I made her a deal because I was renting a room in Idaho from them that she could sell, and I would buy something, and she could rent from me. I found a 4 bed, 3 bath with a shop and an acre so I could bring home the truck. After moving in, she would stay at my place only when I was home and at her daughter's when I was on the road. I was doing 6 weeks out and a week home to start, but trying to keep up with the bills, I had to stay out longer. So, late 2024, I decided to stay 6 months out so I could have a month home and put money away. When I was home, I could do some projects. I always take Christmas to New Year's off because my birthday falls within this. So, in January, I went back out on the road for 6 months, and no one was planning to be at the house.
At the end of March, I got a call from the neighborhood utility stating that my house had used 5500 gallons of water. I asked them to shut it off at the street. When I got home, finally, mold was 2-3 feet up most of the walls in the house. At the same time, I was out west running I-5 from Seattle to LA. In the Bakersfield area, I had a car come across the median and hit the side of the trailer (everyone was ok, thank God). Then I found out a windstorm came through at the house and pretty well made things worse, so now the roof leaks, and that is not counting the things I was going to fix.
After filing with homeowner insurance and them telling me 'NO' because it was not in a timely manner (I filed as soon as I knew), we found out the water meter started upwards at the end of February, and because no one was here to catch it, they would not cover it. They told me to contact the water softener system company because it was a failure of their system. When I did, they told me that it was a known issue, and they don't cover it. So, this is where I'm at. Sorry for asking, but I believe God blesses those that ask when in need. Thank God I still have health and a job, but I need help with housing. God bless y'all, and thanks, Ralph.
