Support a Final Family Vacation and Future Security

hello everyone, I would like to preface this with a bit of context: last year a dear friend of mine created a fundraiser on behalf of me and my children. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen complications and us not knowing there were deadlines, all previous donations were refunded. Her and another friend have advised me to essentially start over from scratch, so here we are.

First I would like to thank anyone who is still following along this journey with me, it means more than you could possibly know. When I was first diagnosed after an already long and stressful period with my health, it felt like all of the air was sucked out of my lungs.

All I could think about was my girls: “what about them… they’re not ready to lose me… I’m not ready to leave them… what will happen to them…” All of these thoughts have plagued my mind since 2022. Still, I have persisted. Despite all of my struggles with my health despite multiple major surgeries and treatments I have fought to show up for them every day. I work my butt off for them, there is nothing that they want or need because I make sure of it.

That being said, a large vacation has been essentially out of reach since this all started- it just hasn’t been in the cards. With the looming cloud of my fragile mortality hanging over my head, and now knowing I am 100% having another major surgery this year to finally fix my neck, I feel even more pressure to have one last Hail Mary to get everything in order just in case. I know the risks of this surgery at best: include me being out of work and confined to bed for a couple of months, and at worst: include my possible death and/or paralyzation.

All I keep thinking about is wanting to have one last really nice vacation with my kids and to squirrel more into their savings accounts, so that they will have those amazing memories of some crazy cool vacation and so I can still be here for them in a way as they go through the seasons of life. There’s a chance I may not be here to take my girls prom or wedding dress shopping, or be here when they go off to college and buy their first homes. If I make sure to set enough aside in their savings, it’ll be almost like I’m still here for them. I would like to use half of the fundraising goal towards a memorable vacation for my daughters and the other half will be split three ways to put into their savings.
