Ralf Avila was a wonderful husband, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. His family was so careful about not getting COVID. They had a medically fragile granddaughter living with them and Michelle, his wonderful wife of 40 years, was a cancer survivor. Unfortunately, on December 11th, Ralf was admitted to the hospital because of complications from COVID and ultimately had to be placed on a ventilator. He lost the battle. He left us on January 17th. His children could only wave at him through a window. Words cannot express how kind and loving Ralf was. He would literally give you the shirt off of his back if he thought you might need it. He made stand up desks for Michelle's students, he would lend a helping hand readily whenever asked, and he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren beyond measure. He told cheesy jokes and when you got together with Ralf and Michelle, you left feeling better and happier. His family needs help. They have lost his income and the entire household contracted COVID. Michelle was also in the hospital for a few days, but she survived COVID. She was able to be at Ralf's side when he was taken off life support.
