Help Ralf Cover Expenses During His Recovery

Our dear Ralf is loved by all who meet him. Ralf has the biggest, most fulsome, open and accepting heart. His smile lights up the room. His sense of humour engages all who meet him. His dedication and commitment to his partner Gabriele, their children Leah, Jason, Sarah and Marlena, his friends, and his colleagues and students at the Nelson Waldorf School have him standing out among the best.

Sadly, Ralf contracted Covid in early August. His symptoms worsened and on August 16 he was admitted to the ICU at Victoria Royal Jubilee ICU with Covid pneumonia.  His condition has deteriorated and he is being treated for ongoing pain, blood clots in his lungs and heart and atrial fibrillation. His current condition is critical, though we are hopeful that he will pull through in time.

Ralf needs our help because teachers at the Waldorf School do not have long term disability insurance. What this means is that when issues like this arise, they only receive what EI benefits provide which is 55% of their regular salary. Ralf’s partner, Gabriele, has been by his side, having recovered from her own bout with Covid. Being self-employed, she has not been pulling in income during this time.

While Ralf is focusing on what he needs to focus on now, getting well again, his bills are mounting. We have set up this GoFundMe page to ease the financial burden for Ralf and his family.  Donations raised through this GoFundMe will help ensure that Ralf’s mortgage and household expenses are covered while he is in hospital and unable to work. They will also support additional medical and rehabilitation costs once he is able to go home.
