Help Rakiyah Recover from a Devastating Car Accident
On what should’ve been an ordinary day, our beloved Rakiyah’s life was shattered in a horrific car accident. She is now battling through multiple traumatic injuries, unimaginable pain, and an uncertain path to recovery.
Her world changed in an instant — and so did ours.
⸻
The Extent of Her Injuries:
• Fractured lower spine (tailbone) – causing debilitating pain and major mobility issues
• Broken wrist – surgically repaired with plates and screws
• Broken foot – making it impossible for her to walk
• Multiple broken ribs – causing difficulty breathing and intense, stabbing pain
• Severe facial trauma, including:
• Deep stitches in her chin
• Major damage to her left eye, which is swollen shut and currently non-functional
• Widespread bruising, cuts, and swelling — from head to toe
Rakiyah is currently confined to a hospital bed. She can’t walk. She can’t see from one eye. She can’t care for herself. And she is in constant pain.
⸻
What She’s Endured So Far:
• Surgery on both legs (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation)
• Wrist surgery with plates and screws
• Facial repair for deep eye and chin lacerations
• Spinal treatment and pain management
• Rib injury monitoring to prevent complications like pneumonia
• Full-body imaging (CT scans, X-rays) and continuous trauma care
More surgeries and long-term therapies are likely depending on how her body heals.
⸻
⏳ The Long Road Ahead:
Doctors anticipate a 6 to 12+ month recovery journey, which includes:
• Intensive physical therapy
• Facial and eye consultations (possible reconstructive surgery)
• Trauma counseling and emotional healing
• Long-term wheelchair use and mobility aids
• Home modifications and full-time caregiving
⸻
Why We’re Asking for Help:
We’re raising $30,000 to help cover the overwhelming financial toll of her healing, including:
• Surgeries and treatments not covered by insurance
• Ongoing physical and occupational therapy
• Vision care and potential eye surgery
• Wheelchair, foot brace, wound care, and other medical equipment
• Transportation for post-discharge appointments
• In-home care and mental health support
⸻
❤️ How You Can Make a Difference:
Rakiyah is a fighter — but no one should have to fight this hard alone. Your gift, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to rebuilding her life.
Please consider donating, sharing her story, and praying for her full recovery. Every act of kindness brings light into her darkness.
With love and everlasting gratitude,
The Family of Rakiyah Wilson
