Support Rakesh's journey to recovery from a recent stroke. Rakesh is a beloved son, brother, cousin, friend, and cherished member of our community. In his 40s, he has always been full of life, kindness, and warmth.
Recently, our world was turned upside down when Rakesh suffered a severe and unexpected brain stroke involving internal bleeding. He is currently hospitalized in Dallas and has undergone treatment that includes placement of a shunt to drain excess fluid from his brain. The stroke has left the left side of his body paralyzed, and he now faces a long and challenging road to recovery.
Despite everything he is going through, Rakesh is fighting every day. Now, he needs all of us behind him.
Why We Need Your Help
Our immediate priority is to help Rakesh access the most appropriate rehabilitation and medical care available to maximize his recovery. His care team is evaluating the level of rehabilitation he needs, which may include intensive inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, adaptive medical equipment, and continued care as he progresses.
These services and the transition from the hospital to rehabilitation can bring significant expenses, including costs that insurance may not fully cover.
We are raising funds to help with:
1. Intensive rehabilitation and physical, occupational, and speech therapy
2. Skilled nursing and continued medical care
3. Adaptive medical equipment and other recovery-related needs
4. Uncovered medical and necessary living expenses during his recovery
5. Medical transportation and, when medically appropriate, bringing him back to his family in Nepal
Our Hope for Rakesh
Our immediate goal is to give Rakesh the best possible opportunity to recover his strength, mobility, independence, and quality of life.
Our longer-term hope is to help him become medically stable enough to return home to Nepal safely. Being surrounded by his parents, family, and loved ones will provide the care, comfort, and support that will be so important to his long-term recovery. We know the road ahead may be long, but we believe every step forward matters.
How You Can Help
We have set an initial goal of $25,000 to help support Rakesh through this critical stage of his recovery.
Every contribution, whether $25, $50, $100, $500, or more, can make a meaningful difference and help provide Rakesh with the care and resources he needs. If you can't donate, you can still make an enormous difference by sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community. A share may reach someone who can help Rakesh when he needs it most.
Most importantly, please keep Rakesh and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he begins this difficult journey.
From Rakesh, his family, and all of us who care about him, thank you for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support.
