My name is Shanilda, and I am studying to be a Respiratory Therapist. In a time when respiratory health is so prominent with the effects of COVID-19, I’m passionate about being able to become a certified therapist to help make a change. Despite applying for scholarships, overcoming obstacles, and being the best student I can be, I have not been able to secure the funds I need to return to school next fall. I currently owe the school a little over $10,000, and must pay this off before I can continue. I want more than anything to be able to graduate the program and make a difference as one of the 12% of Black respiratory therapists serving our communities.
