Help Raise The Roof At Command Performance

This posting is on behalf of our entire Command Performance Team

As many of you have heard a section of the arena at Command Performance collapsed this last Saturday morning from the weight of the snow and ice.  After cleaning up the arena they were hopeful to repair the damage but on Monday another large section of the arena came down leaving the rest very unstable. It is now likely the arena will have to be completely rebuilt. In addition, two of Tim and Rachel’s horses were in the arena at the time of the initial collapse and were stuck behind the pile of metal and trusses at the back of the arena. They worked swiftly to get them both safely to the other side before another section could come down, laying blankets across the path. Unfortunately, while leading their horse Audrey across she panicked and badly cut three of her legs. Audrey lost a lot of blood and cut the sheath on one of her tendons. Rachel quickly wrapped her legs and luckily the vet was out in 30 minutes. She is doing okay but it will be a long road before she is out of the woods.

They are hopeful their insurance company will cover the repairs to the arena , but that still leaves a financial gap due to Tim's loss of income without a place to provide lessons. Tim will be using a friend’s arena to exercise and train the horses in his care but due to liability insurance he still will not be able to provide lessons until his arena is repaired. This is money that would be used for their living expenses (mortgage, insurance, groceries, fuel, feed for the horses, etc.) In addition Audrey’s vet bills are yet to be determined but so far just in supplies Rachel has spent over $400.00.  We will be giving updates regularly as we get more details in the next couple weeks.

Tim started his business in 1989. In March of 1998 He and Rachel moved their business to Ridgefield, Washington. Seemingly everyone knows or knows someone who knows this family and their commitment to horses and the community. Tim may have given you, your kids, or your grandkids riding lessons over the last 33 years. He coached the Ridgefield WASET team for many years, even loaning out his own horses for kids who didn’t own one. He regularly judges shows in our area and all over the country. He has judged for free in the past to help struggling clubs. Tim has not raised his rates over the years to try and make his training accessible to as many people as possible. He has even given horses away when he sees an owner that would be just the right fit when he could have easily sold them for a profit. He has given away tack, show clothes, and the list goes on. Tim is generous almost to a fault. He is someone you can call any time, day or night, and he will be there to help. During the fires this last year Tim and his son Tanner didn’t hesitate to jump in and help move horses to safety all night long after working a full day. They've also boarded several horses for months after catastrophe's at other barns.

Please join us in helping give back to this family who have given so much to the community.  No donation is too small, any contribution would be appreciated. Wilco gift cards also will be appreciated to help offset feed costs.  100% of all donations will go directly to Command Performance.
