Reaching out to the local kite community
Some of you know about a kite accident at Rosster end the end of September. My father in-law Bob Maddox got slammed down shortly after launching and being picked up by a strong gust. Conditions were averaging 40mph. Luckily fellow kitiers including 3 doctors rushed to his aid to stabilize him.
He suffered a C1 neck fracture, large head hematoma, and a broken hip. He has since had surgery and is recovering but the process is slow and is still in a fair amount of pain.
I wanted to raise a little money for him to replace the wetsuit that medics had to cut off during his rescue. I wanted to include you all because it would mean a lot to him to know people are behind him and want to support him. The plan is to get him a Ride Engine 4/3 wetsuit and if we raise enough possibly gloves and booties. I have already spoken with Jon Schlecht to arrange getting the gear ordered. So you would also be supporting a local business.
I will give Bob the gift for Christmas with a card including everyone who chipped in. Please join me in spreading positivity and good vibes.
