Shadow is a 1 & 1/2 year old male Lab-Foxhound Mix. He currently resides in Sumter, South Carolina, with his loving human family. He enjoys playing in our fenced backyard and going for walks in the neighborhood.

On April 23, 2025, at around 9:53 am, Shadow slipped out of the house while the kids were leaving for school and was traumatically injured after being struck by a car, fracturing his jaw and leaving it severely damaged. He is currently undergoing critical surgery and treatment at CVETS - Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty in Columbia, South Carolina, to address the injuries sustained from the impact.

Despite his current medical crisis, Shadow is a truly special member of our family. His playful energy always brings smiles, and his goofy antics keep us constantly laughing. He's incredibly affectionate, always eager for cuddles on the couch, and loves to give good morning snuggles. With the kids, he's patient and tolerant, often letting them dress him up in silly outfits or involve him in their games.

He has a knack for knowing when someone is feeling down and will always try to kiss your face and lay on you as your personal weighted blanket. With me constantly struggling with POTS, he has intuitively learned to push his way under my legs for elevation or lick my face to shock me out of a fainting episode. He is my best-friend.

With the cost of around the clock care and the surgery together, it is estimated to total around $12,000. Which is not including the amount it will cost for his 6-week check-up where he will need to be put under anesthesia once again for updated x-rays and scans to ensure he is healing properly.

Our hearts are breaking. The overwhelming cost of Shadow's urgent surgery at CVETS is something I simply can't manage on my own. Losing him or his quality of life because I can't afford to save him is an unbearable thought. Having our sweet boy healthy again would mean everything to us.
