This fundraiser is being organized by Rick Costa on behalf of Scott Carroll, lifelong friends since elementary school. Scott is fighting a battle that no one should fight alone – the fight against cancer.

Just less than a month ago, Scott began experiencing extreme back pain and after numerous doctor visits his family called for an ambulance to bring him to Charlton Hospital in Fall River as the pain became severe. After numerous tests, blood work, MRI’s and CAT Scans finally he was given the sad diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma cancer. Scott has now begun his long journey of treatment beginning with surgery on his spine. Next week, radiation and chemo will begin. The prognosis is not certain yet, but our prayers and hopes are for Scott to remain here with us for many more years.

Scott is a happy, free spirited man that would give the shirt off his back to help a stranger. He needs our help now. Scott is an artist and owns his own business “Carroll Signs” and has been painting by hand, custom boat names for over 40 years and has painted 1000’s of our local New Bedford Fishing industry boats. Scott is dependent upon the income from his work and now, due to his illness is limited in his ability to generate income.

Scott is also a talented local musician proficient on guitar, harmonica, sax and flute. For several years he has been playing saxophone and singing with the popular cover band, ‘Wolfgang ’.

Scott has been living in Fall River for most of his 69 years and is a proud father and devoted grandfather. Let’s help a friend, business owner and all around “good guy” in the battle of his life …. Any help will be appreciated.

We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the burden for Scott and his wife Lauren. Lauren has been by his side and will continue to help with recovery, doctor visits and his day to day care. Again, Scott is now limited within his business, the work he loves!!! As you can imagine the normal costs of everyday living such as mortgage payments, food, gas, car, and out of pocket medical costs can be astronomical.
