Hello, my name is Megan and I’m here on behalf of my mom, Sandi Roach.
My mom is a 53-year-old widow of two daughters and has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 throat cancer. We watched my dad go through the same struggle nearly 10 years ago, which makes my mom even more motivated to be here for us since he can’t be. The recovery will be hard and extensive but will work if all goes to plan.
Since January, she has been hospitalized to prepare for upcoming Laryngectomy surgery, on February 24, 2022, where they will be removing her entire voice box along with another tumor and 2 lymph nodes. Once healed from this surgery, she will then begin radiation in that area. The doctors are hopeful that this will be successful in removing cancer from her body. Thankfully it has not spread to any other areas.
Sandi is not only a mother to me and my younger sister Shannon, she is someone who has always been there for so many of my friends and even their friends throughout the years. From giving out dozens of ice pops to neighborhood kids, tending to their wounds when they got injured, to volunteering at our schools and lending a helping hand wherever she was needed. She desperately needs that in return right now.
As you can imagine, the medical bills have already begun to come in and she hasn’t even had the surgery yet. Post-surgery there will be continued expenses for the therapies she will require. The costs will be far beyond what our income is as NJ state disability pays very little and insurance only will pay for a small portion.
If you can’t donate, keeping her in your prayers and sharing this while she fights this battle is much appreciated. Thank you in advance from my family and I for the donations, prayers, and time put aside to read this ❤
