Hi everyone,

I’ve just returned from an unforgettable trip in Sri Lanka, where I volunteered with an amazing charity called the Elephant Care Relief Programme. During my time there, I worked closely with Mali, a gentle and resilient elephant who was rescued from the logging industry six years ago.

Mali is currently the only elephant the charity can care for, simply because it’s too expensive to support more than one at a time. In order to keep her safe and out of those horrific conditions, the charity must pay her former owner $1,300 USD every month—on top of the daily costs of food, medical care, shelter, and enrichment. It’s an enormous commitment, but one that ensures Mali can live the peaceful, dignified life she deserves.

The team’s ultimate goal is to rescue more elephants from devastating environments like logging operations and tourist riding centres—where they are often underfed, dehydrated, and subjected to physical abuse. But they can only do this with the support of people who care.

That’s why I’m raising funds to contribute to Mali’s ongoing care and to help the Elephant Care Relief Programme continue their vital work. Every single donation will go directly toward ensuring Mali—and hopefully more elephants in the future—can live safe, happy lives free from suffering.

Working with Mali and her incredible team was truly eye-opening. These animals do not deserve the treatment they’ve endured, and it’s up to us to be part of the change.
