Update 2-25: After speaking with my mom today i have found out that they are having to pay out of pocket for a forensic cleaner to come and clean the house. As of right now there is still Blood and Brain Matter all over the kitchen. The immediate donations will go to cleaning the house. Also there will be a news report on CBS4 at 6 and 11 tonight going into more detail.

 

*Updated Edit From my Mom " Have been reading media post, so many wrong facts. The killer definitely shot Wayne in our doorway, without warning, Wayne fell out on the porch, killer immediately came in and put the gun in my face and backed me to the pantry wall. Before he shot me, he got distracted by our dog attacking him. That is how I escaped to my mothers room. Before he could shoot our dog, Wayne was able to shoot him. He fell at my mother’s bedroom

Door where I was trying to load a shotgun. Wayne was able to get inside the killer was still moving, and Wayne was able to use the killers gun to put the final bullet in him. The killer does right there in our house. I still do not know how I was able to get over him to get out of the house. Please when reading the news media, remember the facts. This killer had set up all night on our farm, for a massive ambush. Extensive weapons and body armor on. He shot Wayne in our doorway, and came around him after me to kill me also. God and our Guardian Angels protected us. Wayne was shot at point blank range, and God kept the killer from hitting major, vital organs. Wayne and Ryder our dog are heroes. Thank you for your support, we have a long road ahead of is, but will be stronger together ❤️"

 

*edit* Wayne Pert is not as good I first thought. A bullet broke a bone and shattered the other in his wrist, and another one fractured a vertebrate. They're leaving all of the bullets because it would be more dangerous to remove them. 

 

I have set up a GoFundMe for them to help put with medical bills, install a security system with motion detection and live surveillance, and anything else they may need in this time of healing.

On February 22, 2022 at 9:46 p.m. deputies with the Dixie County Sheriff's Office responded to US-19 Highway in Taylor County to assist the Taylor County Sheriff's Office after it was reported that one of their deputies was shot while conducting a traffic stop. The Deputy was air lifted to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. Throughout the night DCSO deputies along with assisting agencies searched extensively for the suspect, to no avail.

 

On February 23, 2022 at 7:19 a.m. DCSO deputies responded to a residence near Tennille, Florida, after a homeowner reported the shooting of an intruder. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the homeowner who stated he had exchanged gunfire with the armed suspect after he entered their home. The suspect was deceased when deputies arrived at the residence.

 

Located at the scene was the suspect's vehicle and several firearms strategically placed in what appeared to be an ambush setup. The deceased was identified as Gregory Miedema, who was the suspect in the shooting of the Taylor County deputy the previous night.
