Help raise funds to allow PAWS to help cats and dogs in need

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit PENNINE ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

More information about PENNINE ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY: Currently we are operating on a foster basis for cats with a couple of kennel spaces for dogs topped up by fostering for the more straightforward cases. We have two dog trainers located in different areas who assist with those dogs who have some unwanted behaviours. Similarly with the cats we have experienced cat owners and a cat co-ordinator on hand to help when a feline is struggling with the change to a new location.

Our focus is very much on supporting our foster carers and obtaining the best veterinary care possible for the animals that pass through our charity on their journey to their new forever home. This may be a short journey, or it could be much longer depending upon the complexity of the dog or cats' needs.

Every animal has a vet health check, they are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for parasites. We are very lucky to have the support of fantastic volunteers who help us with raising funds to pay for vet treatment and for all the additional things the animals need such as food, equipment, toys, etc.

Frank, featured in the picture above, is a tripod who came into our care from a semi-derelict house where he'd been left as his owner had been taken into hospital as an emergency admission. Frank was very thin and frantic for food but has gained muscle and weight and is now the poster boy for the charity. He loves everyone and loves a cuddle from his adoring public. Frank will stay in our care as he is very happy where he is in the kennel - we found out the hard way that despite his three legs, it does not stop him scaling a 5ft fence and escaping! If there was a paralympics for dogs, he'd be a winner!

Greyhounds, Hunter & Jenny came into our care as they were no longer required by their trainer and were due to be shipped abroad. We were contacted by a local Greyhound rescue and asked if we had space for them. Fortunately, we found an experienced foster to take them on and they are currently decompressing in her care. Sadly Hunter had to have a tail amputation as he'd damaged it and it wasn't healing. He is currently recuperating from this pretty traumatic surgery and is doing well so far.

Dobby (was Zorro) had a large lump on his leg upon entering our rescue. His owner couldn't afford the surgery for the removal but had also been made homeless and couldn't keep his dogs. Dobby is the most lovable chap, he is so soppy it's not true. He just wants a quiet life with a bit of playtime now and again. His ears were mutilated abroad before he came to the UK but despite that he still loves everyone and everything about life.

The cost of these surgeries runs into hundreds of pounds and indeed the biggest outlay the charity has now is for veterinary treatment each month. We vary from £1,000 to £2,500 which doesn't sound a lot but add it up over the year and it soon runs into six figures.

We are dedicated to rescuing and helping animals in need around Oldham (including Saddleworth), Calder Valley including Todmorden, Hebden Bridge & Halifax, Rochdale and Burnley.

If you can help by donating even a small amount towards the cost of veterinary treatment for Hunter, Jenny (she needs spaying), Frank (vaccinations, flea/worm/tick treatment, Synoquin joint support) and Dobby (surgery, Yumove Senior Joint support) then please DONATE.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
