We have all had someone in our life who means a lot to us. When it’s someone in a child’s life, it is sometimes difficult to tell, especially if they are not able to communicate that. I decided to set up this GoFundMe to help raise money so Taylor and Luke can be reunited once again!

Here’s the story:

Taylor moved from Virginia to Washington State, and shortly thereafter, she started watching Luke while I was at work. There was an immediate connection between the two of them. They were best buddies. Taylor will often say that Luke is her best friend. Luke is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and he requires someone who is in tune with his needs since he is not able to talk yet. He has his own way of communicating, and it takes someone special to understand him. She was always so dedicated to take him to his speech therapy appointments and learn new ways of teaching at home. When it came time to going on maternity leave, I still had Taylor come over to help with Luke. We became close and she has become not only part of our family but a dear friend to me. Sadly, Taylor’s time in Washington State was coming to an end, and she needed to go back home to take care of her grandparents. This was so very hard and unexpected for both her and our family. It broke our hearts. I knew Luke would be okay because I thought that he was none the wiser. Well, I was wrong. The last day that Taylor spent with our family was on his 3rd Birthday, it was a Toy Story themed birthday party of course. She gave him the dinosaur stuffed animal from the movie Toy Story.

I was putting him down to bed one evening, and he saw the dinosaur in his bed and burst into tears. Immediately, I thought he didn’t want the dinosaur in there, so I took it away, but he reached for it and gave it a huge hug while crying. He pulled it away from his body, looked at it, and then buried his face into it while crying. It was then that I realized that he misses her. He knows that she is not coming back. My momma heart broke for him. It was then that I knew she still meant a lot to him and made a long-lasting impression on him. I texted her right away and told her the story. It broke her heart. She has always told me that it would be her dream to go to Disneyland with Luke and our family. Well, it wasn’t until seeing my son be so upset that I thought, why not reach out and ask for help so we can make this happen for Luke and Taylor!
