On the morning of July 22, Rutilio was detained by ICE. He left his wife and two young daughters at home for a day of work like any other day. But instead of being able to focus on providing for his family, Rutilio found himself being terrorized by unmarked vehicles and chased into a residential neighborhood. The end result was not only physical damage to a community, but a family now separated, and having to figure out what comes next.
His wife, Maria, is now the sole provider for the young family, on a part-time job salary. And while she deals with the stress of having to explain to their kids that their father may not be able to come home, she must also navigate the complexities of our much flawed legal and immigration system.
In collaboration with other local organizations, NoVa IRC is helping connect this family to much needed resources. But we need the community support to raise funds for this family to be able to retain legal representation.
Can you chip in to make sure this father can come home?
