Help raise funds for Michael Garden
Donation protected
Michael has been home from the hospital since July. He is on the road to recovery from his fight with necrotizing fasciitis (aka a nasty rapid spreading flesh-eating disease.) Michael lost 61 pounds during his 2-month stay at the hospital. He is so frail. He still has a skilled nurse coming to the house to check on his wounds. He has a physical therapist also coming to the house. It has proved to be a challenge taking care of him. At first, he was so weak he couldn’t even lift his legs up to get into bed. He is getting stronger every day. He is up walking with a cane. His wounds are healing nicely. His brain fog, confusion, mental awareness and forgetfulness bothers me. I’m not sure if that will ever fully improve. He is still unable to work. He is homebound. We have not had any income since the 1st of May, except the go fund me account donation. It’s been tough getting by with inflation, the price of gas, food and prescriptions it’s been hard. Not to mention real estate taxes are due this time of year. Things have been tight
He returned to SLU, St Louis University Hospital, for an operation a few weeks ago. He got the colostomy reversed. He is healed enough that they are not worried about any infections from the stool getting on the wound areas. I’m not sure which one of us will be happier about that. It has proved to be an unfavorable chore.
We are very grateful for all the donations made by friends and family to the Go Fund Me account. It has helped immensely. We appreciate and thank you so very much. I hate having to ask for help; there’s nothing worse. If you could find it in your heart to help us, big or small. Any amount would help. Thank you so, so very much. May God bless every one of you and your families.
Thank you,
