Help Ms. Muhammad raise funds for her son’s BAIL!

Hello, I am Jordan Deal, a close friend of Rashida and Dawud Muhammad. Dawud and his family have been wrongfully targeted and harassed by the 18th precinct PPD for over the past 5 years. After accusing Dawud of having a gun with no evidence and being a target of multiple stop and searches, PPD have continued with unwarranted searches, arrests, and harassment. On September 10th, 2020 Dawud was pulled over after he left his mother’s house at approximately 8:30pm. While on FaceTime with his kids he was accused of his car being “too loud”. During the active arrest, multiple cops from different districts, mostly being from the 18th district (stationed a few blocks from where he lives) forcefully pulled his window down, dragged him out of his car and began beating him. The broke his nose and re-broke his arm, pinning him to the street, and putting a knee down on his neck. After pinning him down, Dawud’s mother Ms. Rashida Muhammad and nearby witnesses saw officers go into the back of his car and supposedly found a gun. Dawud, Ms. Rashida Muhammad, and witnesses believe the gun was planted there. Dawud’s mother and her youngest son have multiple videos of the arrest and the brutality taken place during the act. They have been actively pursuing accountability and legal action against the 18th precinct, while also trying to raise the funds to get Dawud out of jail. His bail is posted at $200,000, with a release at $20,000.

Ms. Rashida Muhammad has been the victim of multiple police brutalities and intimidation’s while pursuing legal action over the killing of her 17 year old son by South Philly police 20 years ago. Her many encounters, including the past occurrence with her son Dawud, has left her traumatized and mentally distressed. Dawud is a college graduate and has been taking care of Ms. Rashida Muhammad since the age of 13 until now, as she has RSD and lupus. With Dawud wrongfully in jail, she is facing hardship with continuing the daily care she needs.

Please help us raise funds for Ms. Rashida in getting Dawud out of jail! There are multiple actions being planned and taken in order to make sure PPD and the city of Philadelphia is being held accountable and will be taking action in bringing justice to the police officers involved and making further demands of reform to protect marginalized and targeted communities from the harm of police. This is one of the first actions needed to ensure the health and strength for the Muhammad family to continue pursuing further justice!
