Help Raise Awareness for MND
*Alert* *Alert*
Through the journey of life I have had the privilege to meet many exemplary human beings. The pinnacle of all being Louie Korica. If you have spoken to me you likely have heard me reference Louie’s teachings. As a young man entering the adult world I was lost, and riddled with many a flaw. I was not ready to tackle the treacherous terrain life was about to set out for me. Perplexed by the challenges ahead, I luckily came across Louie. Louie took my under his wing and provided the blueprint to navigate the terrain that was ahead me. Louie was a mentor, a confident, a teacher, and a friend. I am forever grateful for the time we spent together.
Unfortunately in late 2019 Louie was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) and passed away on October 21st 2020. For those who are not aware of what Motor Neuron Disease is, Motor neurone disease (MND) is a term used to describe a group of diseases that affect nerve cells called 'motor neurons'. Motor neurons carry messages from the brain to the muscles via the spinal cord. These messages allow us to make movements like walking, swallowing, talking and breathing. In motor neurone disease, the nerves become damaged and start to die. When this happens, muscles start to weaken and waste away. Currently, there is no cure for MND and it is life-limiting. MND currently effects 1 in 11,434 Australians.
In an effort to raise awareness for MND. I will be attempting to complete a 12 stair run on Saturday November 16th. The infamous stairs you have all seen plastered on my instagram story hold a lot of sentiment as Louie was the one you introduced them to me. On the day of the event I will also be hosting BBQ (w/drinks) so everyone can well feed while watching something as entertaining as paint drying. In the build to the event I am hoping to raise $1000. If you are interested in donating please donate @
Additionally if you interesting in joining in the torture on the day, please shoot me a DM and I will add you to the WhatsApp Group.
As Louie always said “ pain shared is pain halved”
