Help Rahima rebuild her home

My name is Charlotte. I am fundraising for my friend Rahima.

Rahima house was engulfed by flames, while simultaneously being filled and surrounded by flood waters.

Rahima spent hours trapped on her roof to escape flood waters while her roof caught alight. What wasn’t destroyed by fire or flood water has floated out where walls used to be.

She did everything she could to make sure the house was flood ready, she turned her mains power off, cleared her garage, lifted items as high as she could, collected containers of drinking water and prepared food. She was completely prepared for the expected flood that was initally warned to be 10.6m high.

Rahima knew her house was higher then the flood marker for Lismores worst flood the 1974 flood- 12.12m

What no one expected was the whopping 14.4m of water.

The water rushed in so quickly Rahima became trapped at home and was unable to leave. She spent hours on top of her wardrobe hoping she could wait until the flood waters receded only for them to get higher and higher. Around 6am she was able to wade through the water in her house, get herself and her pets on top of her roof and await rescue while the flood waters continued to rise.

And in what seems like an impossible situation her roof began to smoulder below her. Thankfully an incredibly kind local had his boat and got her off her rooftop and onto a safer rooftop until she could be safely boated to dry land hours later. Rahima spent hours on a neighbouring roof watching her home simultaneously flood and burn.

Now there is a significant amount of structural damage to her roof and walls are missing. Before leaving her house she placed her valuable and sentimental items as high as she good in attempt to keep them out of the flood water- these are now burnt and many things have floated away.

She was incredibly lucky to escape alive and with her animals but has nothing else. Shes lost all her furniture, white goods, clothing, art work, photos and absolutely everything.

Rahima would be incredibly grateful for any help at all.She could use this money replace some of her lost belongings and basic living essentials.
