I came across a post today that I haven’t been able to shake.
It’s about a man in the UAE called Odys, and his cat, Rafi.
Rafi was a street cat in Dubai. Odys took him in, cared for him, and gave him a completely different life—safe, loved, and off the streets.
Now Odys has lost his job and has to return to his home country.
And here’s the part that really got me…
He’s not just leaving and walking away.
He’s doing everything he can to take Rafi with him.
Anyone involved in rescue—especially in the UAE—knows that sadly, a lot of animals don’t get that chance. They’re often put back out or left behind when people leave.
This is someone trying to do the right thing. And that deserves support.
He’s already raised 3,550 AED himself, but he still needs 1,000 AED by the end of April to get Rafi home with him. I’ve set the target for this fundraiser at £240 which covers that remaining amount once converted, along with transaction fees.
All monies raised will be paid directly to the relocation company.
If he can’t raise it in time, Rafi could end up back on the streets. And the reality is—we all know how that usually ends. Rescue, vet bills, foster spaces, international rehoming… it often costs far more in the long run, and that’s if the cat is lucky enough to be helped again at all.
I don’t know Odys personally. I just saw his post and couldn’t scroll past it.
So I’m setting this up to try and help him close that final gap. If you can donate—even a small amount—it genuinely makes a difference here.
And if you can’t, sharing this could reach someone who can. Let’s support someone who’s trying to do right by his cat.
Let’s get Rafi home. ❤️
