My name is Sheyla, and I’m writing this for my best friend Gaby, who I’ve known since we were 11 years old. Gaby lives in Peru with her husband Rafael and their three beautiful children. If you’ve ever met Gaby, you know she has the purest heart—always ready to listen, help, and give love, even from far away.
Earlier this year, Rafael was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had already spread to his lungs. After four rounds of chemotherapy, things were finally looking brighter—the blood tests came back good, and they were full of hope. Their family decided to celebrate life with their loved ones, believing that the next scans would bring even better news.
But their world changed again. The scans showed marks on Rafael’s lungs, and he was scheduled for surgery. Just before the operation, Rafael suffered two unexplained seizures. Further tests revealed what they feared most—the cancer had spread to his brain.
The public hospital scheduled Rafael’s brain surgery for November, but waiting that long is simply not an option. Gaby desperately searched for another way, and thankfully, a private hospital in Lima offered to operate on September 6th. The only condition is that they must make a deposit by September 1st to secure the surgery.
The cost of the operation is 50,000 soles (about $14,300 USD)—an impossible amount for their family to raise alone.
That’s why we are here, asking for your help. Rafael is a loving husband, father, and friend. He deserves the chance to keep fighting, to recover, and to be there for Gaby and their three children.
✨Any contribution, big or small, will bring them closer to this life-saving surgery. If you cannot donate, please share their story so more people can help.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting this beautiful family in their fight.
