Hi, my name is Jackie, and I’m raising funds to support my dear friend Rafa, who is facing one of the hardest decisions of his life.

Rafa has lived in the United States for over 30 years. During that time, he built a life here, formed strong community ties, and has always been someone who gives back, helping others whenever he can. He is a kind, generous, and deeply caring person.

Sadly, Rafa has made the painful decision to self-deport to his country of origin. He originally left that country because he did not feel safe due to his sexual orientation. Now, after decades here, he feels unsafe remaining in the U.S. and sees no other option but to return to a place he once fled.

This means Rafa must start completely over, finding new housing, basic necessities, and rebuilding his life from scratch in a country where resources and support are limited, and where he still faces serious challenges.

The funds raised will help Rafa with initial housing and living expenses, basic necessities like food, clothing, and transportation, legal and relocation related costs, and support as he works to rebuild his life safely and with dignity.
