Hi, my name is Gabriela, and I'm raising funds for our beloved brother, Rafael Emilio Marquez Mendoza, who is fighting stage 4 lung cancer with brain and spinal involvement. He is known as a wonderful family man: Father to Rafi (10 y.o.), husband of Natasja, brother of Gabriela, Maria Elisa (Icha) and Maria Corina (Pekky) and son of Rafael Emilio Marquez (El Gordo Marquez) and Raiza Mendoza. He is also known as a dedicated coach at Hammond and hospital worker, and an overall outstanding human being who now needs our help.

Rafa was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with an EGFR mutation, which has sadly progressed to brain metastases and leptomeningeal disease. Despite the difficult prognosis, he has shown incredible strength through craniospinal radiation, targeted therapies, and physical rehabilitation.

While some treatments are covered by insurance, many life-extending options—including alternative treatments, in-home care, medical equipment, and mobility support—are not. We are currently in need of funds to continue his care and give him the best possible quality of life.
