Help Rae Wiltshire Study Filmmaking Abroad

Hello, my name is Rae Wiltshire, and I have always loved making films. Since the age of 13, I knew I wanted to become a filmmaker, but financial resources have always been a barrier. Despite these challenges, my passion for filmmaking has driven me to pursue my dreams, and now I have an incredible opportunity to further my education and skills.

I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted to the University of Birmingham to study filmmaking. This education is not only beneficial to me but also to the people of Guyana, as I am eager to return and share my knowledge with aspiring filmmakers in my community.

Over the years, I have poured my heart into my films, such as 'Eating Papaw on the Seashore'. This film has allowed me to travel to film festivals around the world, including prestigious events like BFI: Flare and the Locarno Film Festival. These experiences have made me realize the importance of gaining more access to an industry that can help me grow and improve my craft.

Studying at the University of Birmingham will provide me with the advanced skills and knowledge needed to elevate my filmmaking. With this education, I aim to create impactful stories that resonate with audiences globally and contribute to the vibrant filmmaking community in Guyana and beyond. I want to return home and share what I’ve learned, helping to cultivate and inspire the next generation of filmmakers in my country.

Despite my acceptance, I face a significant financial barrier. Tuition costs approximately $30,000, and living expenses are around $20,000. Your support can make this dream a reality and enable me to focus on my studies and creative growth.

My journey has not been easy, but my passion for filmmaking has always driven me forward.
