Help Rae Pay Her Student Loans

Rae here, your resident writer and movement enthusiast :)
If you know me, you know that this is extremely out of character; I honestly typically refuse help of any kind. I was taught that Black women like me have to work twice as hard to get half as much, and so I've worked hard nonstop for my entire life. And ironically, that's kind of how I ended up here.
When I made the decision to go to grad school eight years ago I was all-in--convinced that I wanted to study journalism at NYU. I knew that I would get in, and I knew that I would excel. What I didn't know, and what no one told me, was how expensive it was going to be--and how dangerous the cycle of student loan debt would become after my graduation.
Now, in 2021, on the heels of a pandemic and after a full year of self-reflection, I realized that journalism school was just the beginning. I discovered my true passion for changing people's lives through movement, and am following my calling to become a movement therapist. That means two more years of graduate school; two more years that I can't complete--let alone start--without paying my existing graduate loans in full.
And now comes the ask!
The pandemic has hit everyone hard, I know; but it's also been a blessing in that we've never been more mobilized to follow our dreams and help others. I'm asking you to help me do that by contributing to my massive debt so that I can use my voice and my body to empower others to truly love and accept themselves. The full amount I'm asking will help to pay the loan and interest amounts on both my Great Lakes and my Discover student loans, thus giving me a blank slate to go forward.
If you have anything--truly, anything--it will help. Any amount will be a huge step in my pursuit and will jumpstart my progress.
