In just a few short months, our family’s world was shaken in ways we never could have imagined. Our mother is still recovering from a severe leg injury and major surgery, while our father recently suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. It’s nothing short of a miracle that he came back to us and continues to heal and arrived home less than a week ago.

Amid all of this, we received the devastating news that my sister, Rachelle, has been diagnosed with stage 3C HER2-positive invasive breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes and is growing rapidly.

HER2-positive breast cancer is known to be one of the most aggressive forms, but with recent medical advances, survival rates have dramatically improved. While Rachelle was initially told her prognosis could be as short as two years without treatment, aggressive, targeted therapy now gives her a fighting chance at beating this.

At only 41, Rachelle is a devoted wife and loving mother of four. She is one of the kindest, most selfless people you could ever meet. Despite the whirlwind of medical emergencies surrounding our family, she has faced her own diagnosis with unwavering courage, faith, and grace.

Rachelles treatment has barely even begun and initial appointments have cost upwards of 40K already. The road ahead will bring countless appointments, procedures, and challenges, physical, emotional, and financial. Our family is rallying together to support Rachelle through this fight so she can focus on what matters most: healing, her children, and the hope of a full recovery.
