Help Me Make a Difference in Peru!
Hi friends and family!
I’m so excited to share that I’ve been given the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Trujillo, Peru, for four weeks! As part of my journey to becoming a physical therapist, I’ll be taking medical Spanish classes, working directly with patients, and volunteering at community health fairs. I can’t wait to learn, grow, and make a difference in the lives of others while exploring a new culture.
Here’s what I’ll be doing:
- Medical Spanish Classes: One of the biggest challenges I’ll face as a physical therapist is language barriers, so I’m going to study medical Spanish. This will help me communicate better with Spanish-speaking patients and provide the best care possible.
- Patient Care: I’ll be working alongside local healthcare professionals, learning from them and helping treat patients, which will be invaluable experience as I move forward in my career.
- Volunteering at Health Fairs: I’ll be participating in health fairs within local communities, providing basic physical therapy services and offering health education to those who might not have easy access to healthcare.
And, while I’m there, I’m also going to make the most of the experience by traveling to Machu Picchu—a life-changing adventure that will deepen my understanding of Peru’s rich culture and history. This trip will be an unforgettable opportunity for personal growth and cultural enrichment.
