Hello my name is Rachel and I’m usually a pretty active and healthy girl. I was taken to the Murray Hospital February 15th and discharged on the 24th due to severe pancreatitis and pneumonia. I was home only a couple days and still felt very weak and tired. I attempted to go into my bathroom and somehow lost my footing and my whole body landed on my right leg and broke my right tibia and fibula  (8.0 cm severely comminuted fracture of the proximal fibular shaft and 10.2 cm spiral fracture distal tibial shaft). 2 very bad fractures . It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced! It took me 30 mins to crawl about 30 feet to my bed where my phone was to call 911 for help. The paramedics wouldn’t let me look at my leg and kept telling me to try to just lay down and relax, which was extremely hard to do. I was told my leg looked crooked and my foot was turned all the way to the side. With the help of the fire department, I was able to make it down my steps and to the ER. I had 2 doctors come in while in the ER and reset it the best they could until I could have surgery. Was supposed to be the next day but a special plate and screws had to be sent to the hospital so Sunday morning at 8am, an hour long surgery took almost 3. I now have a 9 inch place and 13 screws in my leg on one of the fractures. Depending on how the other fracture looks when I see my Ortho for follow up, I may need another surgery to put a plate on it as well. I am non weight bearing for 6-8 weeks and won’t be able to drive for no earlier than 6 months. Full recovery is a year or more. Since I am not currently working, I have applied and talked to many people about getting some sort of disability to help me keep my apartment but not getting a lot of good answers so far. I have even had my doctors send in letters stating my condition and how severe it is but it’s not getting anywhere. If anyone could find it in their heart to help me stay above water, I would greatly appreciate it!! Even a couple dollars goes a long way! All money will go to medical expenses including physical therapy, doctor appointments, medicine and the rental of medical equipment I need to get around. I didn’t want to have to make this but I’m in a rough place right now and could really use the help. Any help is appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!
