This is my younger sister, Rachel, and her 4 boisterous boys, Samuel (13), Johnathan (9), Solomon (6) and Arthur (4).

She's a great mama who works hard cleaning houses. She's damn good at it. She's also a wizard with custom embroidery; a fledgling business she's recently been trying to get off the ground.

Unfortunately, she caught covid in October – everyone in her very full house got sick in cycles, continuing to pass it around for weeks. Unable to work, she fell behind on rent and bills. She's been struggling to get ahead since then.

Now, she and her family are facing imminent eviction, unless they can raise enough to cover the past due amount, plus rent for July, within a few day's time (by July 5th.) They're also facing possible shut off of critical utilities, unless they can pay their overdue charges soon.

It feels like a moonshot – like an impossibly tall order – but I have to hope that we can rally around her in this moment, and collectively ensure she and her boys remain housed.

Focusing just on rent for now, her immediate need is $6406.52 ($2870/mth.)

She's gathered about $1000 towards that goal, so we're aiming for $5406.52, rounded up to $5575 to cover GFM fees. Anything we raise beyond that will go towards additional overdue bills (including utilities, car payment and insurance.)
