Hello dear friends and family ~
44 years ago, I met my best friend, Rachel Dubois. Since that day, our world has been filled with grand adventures that have challenged both of us to deepen and grow our friendship.
Naive and with AAA maps and only $800 to our name, my college buddy and I traveled from Maine to California to start our life's journey.
We were filled with courage and a passion for life, unaware of what awaited us.
We soon found ourselves navigating being insurance agents (without a car!), working for an alarm company (she working the office while I installed), attending a Nazarene church to create community and deepen our spiritual faith.
Life brought a pleasant surprise when Rachel discovered she was pregnant. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Holly.
Being an only child had Holly desiring more than ever to have a "Family." The fact that she turned all of her toys into families should have been a clear sign to Rach & I of what lay ahead.
Rachel is now the proud "MoMo - Mother's Mother" of 6 incredibly loving, warm, funny, adventuresome grandchildren ranging from 18 months to 16 years. They ALL live together in beautiful Benicia, California.
I am fondly known to the family as "Datsie," which was bestowed on me when Holly tried to pronounce the name Auntie.
Everyone is aware that raising a family in California is outrageously expensive. Imagine trying to house, clothe, and feed 6 growing children!
Well, that is what my dear friend Rachie and Holly have been doing since the birth of Chloe (grandbaby #1).
All was well until Rachel got diagnosed with endometrial cancer. A mass the size of a cantaloupe was recently discovered in her pelvis!
Rach will start chemo treatments this week, which will require her to take several months off of work for recovery, greatly reducing her income and ability to support the family.
As you can imagine, the medical bills are coming in along with the regular living expenses of maintaining a home, which is why we are setting up a GoFundMe for Rach and the family.
We are standing for a FULL recovery. The donations received will greatly assist in helping this happen by lightening the worry of the medical expenses.
Your donation of $10, $20, $50 collectively will make a HUGE difference in making Rachel's recovery one of ease and grace.
