Recently, our beautiful mum went into cardiac arrest and had to be revived with CPR — a moment that changed our lives forever and showed us just how close we came to losing her. This has sadly been caused by AL Amyloidosis, a rare and serious cancer that has significantly impacted her heart.

In what felt like a matter of moments, our lives changed. Watching someone you love fight for their life is something no family is ever prepared for. We are incredibly grateful that she is still here with us today, but her journey is far from over.

Since then, Mum has had a defibrillator implanted, and we are incredibly relieved to share that it has already worked to support her heart. While this has brought us comfort, it also highlights just how critical her condition remains and how important ongoing treatment is.

Mum has now begun her chemotherapy treatments to target the underlying AL Amyloidosis. She is currently home, which we are so thankful for, but the road ahead remains long and challenging. Mum has lost a lot of her physical strength during this time and is now focused on slowly building that back up.

Dad has stepped into the role of Mum’s full-time carer and is currently supporting her through daily care, appointments, and recovery. As a family, we are navigating significant changes while doing everything we can to support Mum through every step of this journey.

Between ongoing hospital visits, specialist appointments, procedures, and chemotherapy, Mum is unable to work, and with Dad now also on leave from work to care for her, the financial pressure on our family has increased significantly.

We are raising funds to help with:

• Medical and treatment-related expenses

• Travel to and from hospital and specialist appointments

• Time off work to care for Mum

• Everyday living costs during treatment and recovery

• Ongoing support during chemotherapy

Anyone who knows our mum knows how kind, strong, and selfless she is. She has always been the one helping others, and now she needs our help more than ever.
