Help Rachael & Stevie Keep Their Home of 9 Years

Hello Everyone,This is Rachael & I want to explain our situation and why we are using GoFundMe to receive help. After PDX shut down for Covid, Stevie completely stopped leaving the house & I became caretaker, breadwinner & errand-girl in one fell swoop. Stevie has chronic bronchitis and really bad lungs. And recently, they haven’t been the best. I kept working but soon, I just kept getting sick. Mentally & physically my body knew it was too much, so I left my job because I thought it must be easy to find something WFH. Instead I spiraled further into Depression & stopped leaving the house. Now, I only go if we need drinks, groceries, toilet paper, etc. I never returned to work. We have been on multiple government programs like OERAP to postpone our bills. Even though we both have Bipolar Disorder, we have never qualified for Disability in Oregon.  (Even though I have been hospitalized for Bipolar in two different states on separate occasions.)   But the fact that we had no real income helped us qualify for aide & rent postponement.  But, hello! It’s 2023 now & the Debt Collectors are pounding on our door.  Honestly, there was such a short amount of time we were expected to bounce back and pay off 2 years of monthly bills, & rent.  Oof. I remember one month…Feb 2021 I think. I spent the entirety of it in bed.  I refused to get up to eat or go to the bathroom. My doctors keep adding to my medications. I honestly don’t know if I can physically stand for 8 hrs straight.  And for Retail jobs it is a definite requirement.A couple nights ago we finally were served papers & a court date. If I don’t show up Jan 23 at 8:30 AM, with a check for ALL that we owe the Landlord, we lose our home of 8 years. So, this is my desperate plea for help. There are many ways to help. I have items for sale on my personal IG. My Etsy shop: Soft Thunder Art is always open & I am trying to list more items. I’ve started to sell odds & ends at this point. We do not own much of value anymore. Right before Christmas, I started fundraising & we sold all our valuable belongings. We were able to raise 2400 total at that time. We finally set up a Go Fund Me. If we raise $2043 by Jan 19, we will be able to prevent eviction on the court date. Please spread the word if you can. We do understand that many are hurting & funds are dry. But if you know anyone wanting to donate & really impact someone’s life… please mention this fundraiser to them.
