Our dear friend Rachael suffered severe frost bite and cuts to both hands on an unseasonably cold night. After realizing she didn’t have the key to the front door with her, she struggled with gaining entry to the back door ,which was warped and jammed due to the cold, for a period of approximately 10 min. The injuries are severe and Rachael will be unable to work for an indeterminate amount of time. She has been hospitalized at HCMC since the accident and has been receiving Hyperbaric oxygen treatments, undergone surgery and is enduring painful daily dressing changes. The outcome is still uncertain, and there is a very real possibility that Rachael will require having fingers/ portions of fingers amputated. She will require extensive therapy to regain the use of her hands. Recovery is going to take time and undoubtedly will require assistance. Between essential living expenses and low-end medical cost estimates, we are setting an initial donation goal of $25,000.
