Two Families in the Philippines Need Our Help
Donation protected
My name is Edna and I am a frontline worker in New York City. I am raising money on behalf of my two nieces in the Philippines, who are in need of immediate medical treatment and financial help. My family and I are doing our best to raise money for them, however it is a lot more than we can afford at the moment, so we are asking for your help. A little can go a long way with the exchange rate, even a small amount can do so much.
Family #1
Eloiza Aban, was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer stage four (with metastasis) and is currently undergoing four cycles of chemotherapy. She had undergone her second chemotherapy treatment on April 19th. The treatments recommended by her oncologist are the following:
1) 4 cycles of chemotherapy
2) 33 days of radiation therapy
3) 4 sessions of brachytherapy
Eloiza is married with two young children- John Loid and Deza Shane. Eloiza along with her husband, Rodel, used to own a restaurant, but had to close it down last year due to the pandemic. Unable to find a job, they borrowed money from friends and neighbors in the community which they will have to pay back. They will be using the funds to help pay for her treatments and to rebuild their family business.
Family #2
Rachael was only eighteen years old when she was sexually assaulted multiple times by her uncle, who was also her professor, while she was working as an aid at his family’s home.
After years of fighting in court for the professor’s conviction, with the help and support of her husband, Ernesto, and her former college classmates, they were able to win the case and he was sent to jail. During the years spent on trying to fight this case, she got married and had children, but the trauma from her childhood still remains. Unable to make ends meet, she traveled overseas in last year as a helper for a family in Hong Kong. Working as a helper only brought back her trauma, and was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. There, she was diagnosed with major depression and was sent home to the Philippines just a few months after.
When she arrived back home, she was faced with even more problems.
Rachael and Ernesto have three young children, Kyd, Baram, and Katherine. While she was away, Ernesto lost his job as a government employee due to a stroke and is recovering 80% at this time. They are both unemployed and unable to afford any professional help due to their illnesses. Their community are doing as much as they can to get the help that they need.
With a collective spirit of solidarity, we can make a vast difference in Eloiza and Rachael’s lives. Even a small amount can make a huge difference. Your help and generosity will be highly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read their story. Stay safe and God bless.
