Hello everyone. My name is Aryan and I am RA’s mom. We livein Langford, BC. I came to Canada as a caregiver in November 2016 leaving RA and her sister in our home country, the Philippines. As soon as I was eligible to sponsor them to become permanent residents, I immediately started the application. Their immigration process was long and full of stressful events. After almost four long years, I finally got to give them a great big hug at the Vancouver International Airport on September 24th 2020. At last, the good life I’ve been dreaming for them to have is within reach. RA applied for June 2021 intake at the University Of Victoria to pursue her dream of being a psychologist while working part time at a pizza store.

She was diagnosed of Primary Mediastinal B-cell Lymphoma, a very aggressive type of blood cancer in December 31st, 2020. She has a 7cm mass in her chest area near her heart and is growing fast. The first days of her diagnosis were very emotional but she is very brave and is determined to fight this  terrible disease, She will undergo initial chemotheraphy that will start in January 21st. Her oncologist also said that she might need to go to Vancouver to get the more intensive treatment that Royal Jubilee doesn’t have. It depends on how she will respond to her initial treatment. And also this intensive treatment in Vancover (called DA-EPOCH) doesn’t need a radiation theraphy afterwards which we prefer to avoid any long term side effects in her heart and lungs. 

My husband is the only financial provider in the family right now. I was studying Health Care Aid program before RA’s diagnosis and have to pause it to focus on being my daughter’s caregiver. We are raising funds for the six months worth of drugs and other prescriptions that are not covered by her health insurance. The funds will also be for our transportation and child care for my 1 year old baby whenever I bring RA to doctor appointments, lab works and chemo scheds. We will also be needing additional financial help when they advise us to bring RA in Vancouver for the more intensive chemo. 

We are asking all you kind hearted people to please help my daughter in her battle against cancer.
