Hello friends, my name is Terry and I'm the Care and Recovery Director at CityBridge Community Church in Plano, TX. Last Saturday, a 67-year-old mother and her 42-year-old son with Cerebral Palsy showed up on the porch of our church in desperate need of help. For reasons explained below, we'll call them R and J. They had become homeless after thieves stole their personal belongings containing all their personal information and then fraudulently used their social security IDs and manipulated their accounts. This criminal activity caused their only source of income to be cut off, resulting in their eviction.
Over the last few days, we have housed them in a nearby hotel that is both close to the assisting agencies and that can accommodate J's disabilities. We have also worked diligently with those local agencies to begin the arduous process of replacing all of their vital identification. This typically can take 2-3 weeks, so here is where you can help. We're trying to raise $1500 to house and feed R and J during this waiting period to get their disability income restored. There are two primary ways you can help this mother and son. You can pray for all of their paperwork to be processed efficiently, and you can donate funds that will pay for their housing, food, and medication during this waiting period. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering how you might help a struggling mother and son recover from this devastating theft.
