Help Quynh Overcome Her Apartment Fire Tragedy

Quynh started her first year of the medical program at KUMC. She is passionate to become a doctor to help the unfortunate. She comes from a rural town in Vietnam and her family is unable to help her financially. She lives in the US with no family. Her two best friends are Mina and Oreo, her beloved cats, who died in the fire.

On Saturday at 11 pm, November 26th, Quynh was woken up by car horns. Her smoke detector was malfunctioning and did not alert her. The apartment building where Quynh lived on the third floor was in flames. The fire started from an apartment two floors below her, and by the time she could respond, the only entrance/exit was entirely engulfed in flames. She made it to the balcony and almost had to jump from the third floor due to the extreme smoke and fire. She almost did not make it out alive.

Firefighters made it to the scene and rescued her after what must have seemed like an eternity. Unfortunately, her cats Mina and Oreo did not survive the ordeal, a tragedy added on top of the fact that Quynh lost her furniture, clothing, pc, and other valuables due to fire and smoke damage.

Quynh purchased Renters insurance through the Landlords, but it was only liability insurance for any harm to the property she caused, so none of her possessions were covered. The property management company did not communicate this when she signed up for it. She is now facing medical bills from the ER for smoke inhalation treatment.

We are starting this GoFundMe page to purchase furniture, clothing, school supplies, and other essentials Quynh lost in the fire. Currently, she is unsure if she can continue her education in medical school from this trauma. Any support you can give will be greatly appreciated!
