"Hello, my name is Qusai Zahir Abu Al-Qumbuz. I am a 20-year-old Palestinian from Gaza.

Only a few months ago, I was simply a student with dreams. I worked hard in school and graduated with a 98% average. My biggest hope was to enter university and study astrophysics. I believed that education could change my life and help me build a better future for my family.

But in a single moment, everything was taken from us.

In the early days of the war, my father left home to buy a bag of flour because we had almost no food left. We were waiting for him to come back. Instead, a bombing took his life before my eyes. I never had the chance to say goodbye.

That moment changed my life forever.

I was no longer just a student dreaming about the future. Overnight, I became the only person responsible for my mother and my five younger siblings. The weight of our entire family suddenly fell on my shoulders.

The war didn’t stop there. Our home was completely destroyed. Everything we owned, every memory we had built inside those walls, was gone. We were left with nothing — no home, no safety, and no certainty about tomorrow.

Today, we are trying to survive in a rented house, but we can barely afford the rent. Food is scarce, and even basic medical care for my little brother has become something we cannot afford. Every day is a struggle to protect my family and keep them safe.

Despite the pain, the fear, and the loss, I still hold on to one small piece of hope. I still dream of returning to my studies one day and rebuilding a future where my family can live with dignity and security.

But right now, we cannot do this alone.
