Help "Vegas" get well

Donation protected
On April 8th a small white dog was found by an off duty Barre City Police officer while she was running on the VAST trail in Groton, VT.  "Vegas," as she decided to name him, was laying off the trail absolutely exhausted and had given up.  She carried him back to her car, over 4 miles.  The officer called us at Random Rescue to come and pick up Vegas and help him.  Vegas was very dirty, matted, and extremely thin.  After his bath he drank a lot of water and seemed to have trouble using his mouth.  He slept the night curled on the couch under loads of blankets and heating pads.

In the morning, Vegas seemed a bit more lively.  He was excited to eat but had trouble getting the food in his mouth and eventually gave up.  We made arrangements to take him to Onion River Animal Hospital.  At the vet we discovered that Vegas has a broken jaw along with severe dental disease. With no microchip it will be hard to track his previous owner.  Estimated at around 13 years old this neutered male looks to be a Terrier/Poodle mix.  Vegas weighs about 6.9 lbs and should be closer to 10 pounds.

This little guy has won the hearts of many through his photos on the internet and we have been bombarded with interest in his adoption.  While Vegas will not be ready for a forever home for awhile (unless we can find his original family) we are excited that so many people would like to help him.  He will need loads of Vet care, including blood work, X-rays, pain medications, antibiotics, special food, vaccines, a dental and potentially surgery to fix his jaw.  We were not prepared to face a financial strain during this time of unpredictability, especially because we do not have any boarding clients at this time to help with the cost.  We are reaching out to see if anyone who has shown interest in this guy can help us out in reaching our goal to do whatever is necessary to fix him.

We will not give up on Vegas and hope we can find a way to help him!
