My name is Quinton. I'm doing everything I can to try to keep a roof over my family's heads while I'm struggling with my health, and we are struggling with transportation and employment.
I went to the emergency on July 24th of 2025 with shortness of breath and abdominal pain. This was normal for me and I was ready for my symptoms to be passed off as stress like they usually were. Instead I got a chest CT and was made aware of an issue in my celiac artery. I got to see a general surgeon on August 22nd about this issue and was diagnosed with MALS, a rare disorder that has to be surgically fixed. My surgeon showed me past CT scans in the area and explained that this issue has always been there, but no one made a note of it until now, and that it's gotten significantly worse. He said that he's worried it could kill me if I don't get surgery within the next year, so now I have a whole bunch of testing to complete in order to convince my insurance to cover a life saving surgery.
Because of my history of abdominal pain, I already had one of the test, and upper and lower endoscopy, scheduled for August 27th (yesterday as im typing this). In my colonoscopy they found what my doctor's believe is a tumor, a little bit bigger than a golf ball, in my colon. I now have to go in on September 26th for another colonoscopy so they can do an internal ultrasound on the mass, and get a better biopsy to determine if it's cancerous.
Throughout all of this our vehicle hasn't been working, our breaks stopped working at the beginning of the month leading us to have to replace the breakpads, rotors, and calipers. This took way longer than expected due to accidentally being sent the wrong parts by auto zone and having to reorder the correct parts on ebay. Now some of the bolts on our calipers fell off and we have to replace them before we can safely drive.
The issue is that Uber and odd jobs were our main source of income. Since we have been in between, and searching hard for jobs. We have depleted our savings trying to fix our vehicle, and i don't know how im going to keep a roof over, mine, my spouse's, and my child's head with rent being due September 1st.
We have already contacted local charities, 211, and our local trustees office but we're unable to receive help.
Our rent is $1588 due on September 1st. Electricity is $249.86 due September 2nd. Water and sewage is $110.57 also due September 2nd, and gas is $19.51 due September 8th. Our car payment is $450 also due on the 1st. I fully understand that a lot of these are going to be late at this point. I'm asking for $3000 to help cover the $2417.94 of bills I mentioned, as well as any potential late fees, medications insurance won't cover, and transportation to and from my upcoming medical appointments. We're also trying to sell most of our belongings on FB marketplace through my spouse's account, Atziri Rivera-Hallal.
I wouldn't be asking for help unless i couldn't find another way, we often help in our community rescuing and fostering animals through Chicken Nugget and Gang Rescue, as well as bringing people items they need, cooking meals for our neighbors, and donating clothes and resources to IYG.
