Help Quinton Recover from Toxicity Treatment

Hello to everyone reading,

My name is Lily and I am raising funds to help cover emergency veterinary costs for my cat Quinton. I've had him for nearly 10 years and he means everything to me, he is 100% my child.

On Monday (2/16), after coming home from work, I noticed yellow pollen on his fur. I didn’t realize it was from lily flowers in the moment, and I had no idea how incredibly toxic lilies are to cats (...worst irony of our lives). As soon as I found out, I immediately tried to wash any of the residue off of him and rushed him to the emergency animal hospital.

He was admitted right away and placed on IV fluids to protect his kidneys from the toxicity. The original estimate for his 48-hour stay was quoted at $2,266.02. However, as of February 18 at 11PM, the animal hospital informed me he needs to stay an additional day for monitoring, which will increase the total by another $700–$800. He will also need a follow-up appointment after discharge to recheck his bloodwork once he’s off IV fluids to make sure he healthy without the IV fluids.

Although the vet has tried to reassure me that I am not the first to cat parent to experience this situation, I deeply regret not being more educated on the severity and toxicity of lily pollen. I keep replaying everything in my head, wishing I had known better and could correct the whole situation. But right now, my primary focus is making sure Quinton gets the best care.

I’m doing everything I can to earn extra money, but I cannot handle these unexpected emergency expenses alone, and I am just completely overwhelmed. This is my first time using GoFundMe so I'm a little nervous stepping out of my comfort zone with online media platforms, but I am trying to be as transparent as I can be.

Idealistically, we want to raise around $3,000 to help cover his hospital stay, additional monitoring, follow-up care, and GoFundMe fees. Absolutely anything helps, even sharing this around with friends or family would absolutely mean the world to us.

If you’re able to donate, thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart. If not, please keep Quinton in your thoughts and prayers. I’m praying his 72-hour check will be the last one and that he’ll be strong enough to come home soon.

Thank you for supporting Quinton and I.

His current condition:

Tue (2/17 - 10PM)
24 hour mark - There was a small spike in his kidney level but nothing extreme. The spike did require him to stay another night. The morning of Tuesday the vet noted he was "very interactive," "in good spirits" and starting to eat and use the bathrooom.

Wed (2/18 - 11PM)
48 hour mark - Kidney level spike lowered but not completely which prevented his discharge for Thursday (2/19). The morning of Wednesday the vet noted Quinton has been very sweet to everyone (he loves being around people), he remained stable overnight, and they wanted to proceed with the 48 hour blood work that night.

We are now moving into his 72 hour stage. I will try to update as often as I can.
