Help Quintin Run Again

On Saturday morning, June 20th, my brother was mowing the grass at my dad's house with his John Deere tractor. It was something he had done countless times before. That morning, my 4-year-old nephew, Quintin, was happily playing on the porch, completely occupied with what he was doing. As my brother backed up the tractor while mowing, he looked to make sure Quintin was still safely on the porch. In an instant, he felt a bump. When he looked back, he saw every parent's worst nightmare—Quintin was underneath the tractor. My brother somehow managed to flip the tractor over, breaking his thumb in the process. He pulled Quintin free and desperately tried to stop the bleeding from his leg, but he couldn't. In a matter of seconds, their lives changed forever. Thinking quickly, my brother removed his belt and used it as a tourniquet on Quintin's right leg while calling 911. The heroic actions of the first responders, who immediately called for a medical helicopter, saved Quintin's life. The paramedics later told my brother that what he had done with the tourniquet was "a miracle" and said they had never seen anything like it. In the midst of unimaginable chaos, my brother also had to retrieve his son's severed foot and bring it with him on the flight to Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital. During the flight, as the adrenaline began to wear off, the reality of what had happened hit him. He realized he had nearly lost the son he loves more than anything. As he broke down, 4-year-old Quintin—awake through the entire flight from Snow Hill to Baltimore—looked at his dad and simply said, "It's okay, Daddy." Doctors and surgeons did everything they could to save Quintin's leg and foot, but the injuries from the mower blades were too severe. After several surgeries, with more still to come, they had no choice but to amputate his right leg approximately 10 centimeters below the knee.

Now, Quintin faces a long road to recovery. The funds raised will help cover medical bills, travel, gas, hotels, physical therapy, and prosthetics. Our hope is to give Quintin the best possible care and help him regain his mobility, so he can run and play again. Your support will ease the financial stress on our family and make a real difference in Quintin's life.

My greatest wish is to see my nephew run again. To hear him laugh, smile, and simply be a little boy again. If you are able, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small, and every contribution will help lighten the burden during this long road to recovery. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Quintin and his family in your thoughts and prayers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
