Help Quintin J Knox Rebuild After Fire

The Accident

Calling on all hearts to help us help our brother Quintin J. Knox. He has just endured horrific loss. On February 16th, his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan burnt down. Everything, all of his belongings GONE in the fire. He had just gotten up and by the grace of God, this particular morning, had to take our mother to her Doctor appointment. He received a phone call informing him that his home was on fire and that the fire department had been called. He arrived to see the devastation of everything he owns going up in a blaze of fire. Thank God that on this day no one else was in the home.

That was not the end of this nightmare of a morning for Quintin. Not an hour later as he is digesting what just happened and trying to figure out what to do and wondering if he will be able to salvage any of his life from inside of the rubble and ashes, he heads to pick up our cousin from her shift at the hospital to help him navigate through this mind-blowing tragedy. he drives his newly acquired 15 passenger van to the hospital, locked into a frantic mindset, he does not see the 8ft. cement overhead which limits the height of a vehicle that can pass through.

Suddenly, Quintin finds himself ducking for his life as the entire top of his 13ft. high passenger van is ripped off and essentially rips the van into shreds!! God is great in that He sparred our brother’s life and he suffered no bodily injury. Although at this point the mental injury he is experiencing has heightened to complete despair.

We are asking you to help us to help Quintin rebuild his life and become whole again. Please donate anything that you can. We are working to get him in housing and a new used van for his livelihood.

Money will be used to pay deposits and rent for an apartment and utilities, winter clothing, coat, boots/shoes, food, toiletries, gas for transportation, loss from work, finding a new used van, furnishings, and the money needed to clean the debris from the fire and towing bill and removal for the van.

About Quintin

I want to tell you a little about my big brother. Quintin is the last male role model left in our immediate family. My father who was accidently killed during a medical procedure in 2001 left him with the charge of caring for our mom and us 5 girls-at the time (we have sadly lost 2 sisters over the last few years). He has had a very trying life himself, yet he takes that charge very seriously. He made the decision to stay in Michigan and take care of our elderly mother, making sure she is cared for and protected.

We appreciate him because we live in other states, California and Texas. Despite the trauma that my brother has endured and frankly, just the hard luck, he is always working to build something to make sure his children have things they need. His latest endeavor was to buy the home he was leasing with an option to purchase-he had almost completed paying the down payment with one more payment at the end of February and was supposed to acquire the home at the end of this month.

Quintin had noticed that many people needed transportation to get to places like clinics or grocery stores, etc. but was not necessarily able to afford rideshares like uber or lyfe. In the winter months, especially, it is not good for many elderly people to wait outside for public transportation. My brother came up with a solution, he decided to purchase a van that could have scheduled group pickups with door-to-door transportation service to and from clinics, hospitals, stores, etc.

He had just purchased the van 2-weeks prior and began advertising the service. He was in the process of finalizing paperwork to officially start offering services, including insurance for transporting riders in the van. He had planned on a February 20th kick-off date. As you can see from the pictures, on the morning of February 16th all his hopes, dreams, and work came to a screeching halt. I say halt because we can help him to rebuild his life and revive the hopes and dreams, he is working so hard to realize.

The Request

As Quintin’s baby sister, I speak for my family in saying my brother is a good man and we are grateful that he is there for our mother and the entire family. We need your help in raising the funds he needs to recover from these tragic events.
