Help Quincy and Family Rebuild After Fire

We Never Thought This Would Happen to Us

When I was finishing our evening walk with Quincy, our beloved dog, we noticed an eerie orange glow on the horizon. At first, I wondered if it might be from a film set—after all, we live in Los Angeles—but the thought quickly faded. No one should be filming during 70 mph wind gusts.

Moments later, a Public Safety Alert buzzed through our phones: “BE AWARE” and “MONITOR.” At the time, it felt like a precautionary warning, but just in case, we packed a go-bag for Quincy and began gathering a few essentials for ourselves. We had no idea how quickly things would change.

Less than 45 minutes later, the Emergency Alert came: “LEAVE NOW.” In those frantic moments, we grabbed what we could and fled, grateful to escape safely. We thought we’d have time, but by early morning, alerts from our outdoor cameras started coming in. At first, our cameras sent alerts of what they thought were vehicles or animals. Then we realized the truth: embers, carried by the relentless wind, were falling on our property

We watched in helpless horror as the blaze consumed our front yard and crept toward our home. Embers turned into flames that devoured everything in their path. The final image before the internet cut out was devastating: our house, still standing but surrounded by fire.

By dawn, it was gone.

Our home wasn’t just a building; it was where we built a life together and cherished moments with friends and family. Every corner held memories -- from the kitchen cabinets where we sanded away 75 years of paint to the oak tree where we buried Mr Huntington —now all reduced to ashes.

We’re grateful beyond words to be safe, but starting over is overwhelming. We’re asking for your help to rebuild our lives. The funds raised will go toward immediate needs like temporary housing, clothing, food, and eventually rebuilding what we’ve lost.

Anything you can give—no matter how small—will make a world of difference to us as we navigate this unimaginable loss. If you can’t donate, sharing our story with others would mean the world to us.

Thank you for being part of our journey to recovery. With your kindness and generosity, we hope to turn this tragedy into a new beginning.
